Help me succeed

I know I need to be writing articles. […] Do that for me. I hate writing articles. I despise it.

“I despise it”  – these words from one of our customer interviews caught my eye, as they are pretty strong. I can empathise with this feeling though. Not that long ago I was a small business owner myself, and I despised doing my taxes. It’s not an exaggeration — I felt utmost dread when it came to filling monthly paperwork required by the revenue service. I was forever worried that I’m going to miss some new law or rules that apply to my business, which will result in a penalty. Making sense of all the regulations made me want to pull my hair out. Finally, I hated that paper work was taking away valuable time I could be spending working on my actual business.

As you can tell, I had some strong negative feelings associated with doing taxes. So as soon as I was able to afford it, I hired an accountant, and weight has been lifted off my chest. I can hardly describe how good it felt to have someone to take care of all the paperwork, and keep an eye out for all the laws and rules that might apply to me. Hiring an accountant didn’t take away all the work – I still had to invoice clients, pay the taxes, etc., but she told me exactly what to do, and when to do it. She helped me succeed at my taxes.

Circling back to WordPress.com, I hope one day we can give the same feeling of confidence to our customers. That feeling that they’ve come to the right place. That we’ll tell them what to do in order to make the most of their of their website. That we’ll help them succeed.
