When I first started in design, I had this morning ritual where I’d go to a few sites that posted “daily design inspirations” (a long scroll of different work) to get into “flow”.
What is flow?
Flow, also known as the zone, is the mental state of operation in which a person performing an activity is fully immersed in a feeling of energized focus, full involvement, and enjoyment in the process of the activity. In essence, flow is characterized by complete absorption in what one does, and a resulting loss in one’s sense of space and time. (pulled from wikipedia).
Looking at a long scroll of designs was my way of immersing myself into craft, and getting my mind running with ideas. This was a simpler time, when the objective was more aesthetic, more art than design, devoid of data, design thinking, UX, PM’ing, e.t.c.
I haven’t done that in a while, and figured I’d dedicate this post to that past ritual. I spent a few minutes browsing some design feeds, and would love to share the feeling of immersion (or just looking at some cool designs) with you.
Enjoy.
