Marina Verdu
What do you like best about being a designer?
Marina: One aspect that I deeply enjoy is the opportunity to bring ideas and concepts to life through visual storytelling, which is incredibly fulfilling. Having the chance to convey complex ideas and narratives in a visually engaging and accessible way, allows us to simplify and improve someone’s life.
What’s a design trend/aspect/thing that you’re really into?
There are a couple of them, but right now I’m learning to create visuals and motion with JavaScript. Currently practicing with this Bruno Imbrizi Domestika course.
Who is MARINA?
Marina is a creative designer on the WordPress VIP design team. She loves to draw, and can’t live without her iPad with the Procreate app, mate (an Argentinian herb infused drink), books, and her bike.

Matt West
What do you like best about being a designer?
Matt: Helping people. Digging into what someone really needs. Then, bringing that into the world and seeing the impact it has on making their life that little bit easier.
What’s a design trend/aspect/thing that you’re really into?
I’m fascinated by products that have stood the test of time. I try to understand what about their design led them to endure when so many other products have aged into irrelevance.
A great example is the 606 Universal Shelving System designed by Dieter Rams for Vitsœ. In production for sixty-three years and still going strong. Inspiring.
Who is matt?
Matt is a product designer on the WordPress.com design team. He rides a motorbike and is currently learning to make Kumiko, a Japanese form of latticework. Matt also likes to unwind with a good book, and is making his way through Murakami’s back catalogue.
